As Fred Barnard once said, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Memories are something that we all hold near and dear to our hearts, and photography speaks directly to that. My two favorite things about a photograph have always been that a picture can capture a memory in time and that it can speak directly to the heart. Every time you look at a picture, it takes you back to a certain time and place, and has the ability to capture a moment in time so you can keep it with you forever. 

 

A friend of mine snapped a picture of me in high school before our Senior Homecoming dance of my grandfather whispering something in my ear. He passed away not long after that picture was taken, and it’s one of the most precious things I own. That picture was the one that made me realize how truly important photography is. I will forever have that memory, not only in my heart, but forever in a frame on my desk. Every time I see that picture it reminds me why I love what I do.
